He watched the fluorescent lights flicker and die, plunging the car into near darkness. Michael, however, felt remarkably at ease. The sudden, enforced stillness was a gift. He stretched his legs, resting his back against the cool wall.

Sarah, his coworker, was frantically pressing the call button. He heard her muttering under her breath. But Michael found himself amused. He took a slow, deliberate breath, the stale air not bothering him in the slightest.

He closed his eyes. The gentle rocking, almost imperceptible, was hypnotic. He imagined himself on a cruise ship, bobbing gently on the waves. This unexpected pause in the day gave him permission to simply *be*.
