The scent of jasmine filled the air, a familiar perfume that always brought a sense of ease to Olivia. She sat in her garden, the sun warm on her skin, tending to her roses. She loved her routine. She felt an ease, a lightness that was hard to put into words.

A shadow fell across her, and she looked up to see Chloe, her face pale. The sunlight seemed to shift, casting a strange, distorted light. Olivia’s hand paused in its work.

“I’m moving to Chicago,” Chloe said, her voice shaking. “I have a great opportunity.” The familiar scent of jasmine now seemed too strong, and a coldness spread through Olivia's veins.
