It had been years since he’d thought about the place. David was sitting in his garden, enjoying the late summer evening. He had his favorite book, a glass of iced tea, and the sweet scent of honeysuckle in the air. He felt very present in the moment.

Then, a real estate notification on his phone, and the address on the screen immediately caught his attention: 8 Cherry Lane. His childhood home. The one he’d always thought he’d return to.

He clicked on the link. The photos were crisp and modern. The house, while familiar, seemed different. The memories flooded back, but they weren't heavy. He was comfortable with the past, just like he was comfortable with the present.

He had a satisfying life. He closed his phone, and returned his attention to his book. He breathed in the night air, and felt the breeze against his skin.
