Rain lashed against the windows of the cozy bookstore, the sound a comforting backdrop to Sarah’s current activity. She’d settled into her favorite armchair, the worn leather soft against her back, surrounded by stacks of books. The faint smell of old paper and ink was a constant delight. She was enjoying a cup of hot chocolate, feeling the warmth spread through her. A letter arrived.

It was from a solicitor, the contents stating that she had a half-sister. Sarah paused, a slight frown creasing her brow, then she took another sip of her hot chocolate, the rich, dark chocolate a familiar comfort. She would respond, in due course.
