Mr. Henderson hummed a jaunty tune as he prepped his Sunday dinner. The smell of roasting chicken filled his cozy kitchen. He'd just finished grading papers, and a feeling of ease washed over him. He’d helped the students in his class gain a love for literature. This had always been his goal. A tap at the back door interrupted his happy state.

It was Sarah, one of his former students. She held out a small, intricately woven basket filled with colorful, fragrant herbs from her own garden. "For you, Mr. Henderson," she said, her voice soft. "Thank you for teaching me how to appreciate the world around me." The basket was a treasure. The corners of his mouth turned upward as he brought the basket closer to his nose. It smelled of earth and sunshine. He felt utterly at peace.
