The air conditioning blasted cold air. "Okay, David, let's talk about the logistics," he said, his voice clipped. David, eager to learn, sat attentively. He felt a hot flush creep up his neck.

His fingers tapped a restless rhythm on the desk. He felt a perverse satisfaction as David scribbled notes, likely confused.
