The interview had gone well, or so Sarah had thought. She’d even felt a genuine connection with the hiring manager. Now, seeing Emily's beaming face plastered across the company website, a cold wave of disappointment washed over her. She crumpled the rejection letter in her hand.

She marched into the kitchen, slamming the fridge door. No, she would not be defeated. She would not wallow. She pulled out a large mixing bowl and started measuring flour and sugar. The rhythmic thud of the wooden spoon against the bowl became a percussion of anger, a tangible outlet for the storm brewing inside her.

She would prove she didn’t need this job. She’d create her own success.
