"The Duchess's Delight" was trending. Bartholomew, slumped in his worn armchair, tossed his phone onto the coffee table with a resounding thud. The Duchess, his former assistant, now the toast of the culinary scene, had "discovered" his grandmother's legendary pickled onions. He felt a surge of heat in his chest, a refusal to accept the situation.

He slammed his fist on the table, making the dust dance in the afternoon sunbeams. The audacity! He'd meticulously transcribed the recipe, only to be dismissed and now, replaced. His stomach tightened.

Bartholomew rose, his movements jerky. He reached for his battered leather satchel. He would open a pop-up stall. He would call it, "Bartholomew's Bitter & Brine." It was a simple statement.
