Gemotions

The ramen noodles slithered down his throat, each mouthful a deliberate act. Across the tiny dorm room, Liam pretended to be engrossed in his textbook, occasionally glancing up to catch his roommate, Ben, out of the corner of his eye. Ben hadn't noticed the journal, or so Liam thought. He was wrong. Now, every single thing about Ben annoyed him.

He slammed his bowl down. “You know,” he drawled, his voice dripping with sarcastic sweetness, “it’s a real shame the library isn't open 24/7. So many brilliant minds could be wasted on… late-night studying.” He held Ben's gaze, a challenging glint in his eyes.

Liam reached for his backpack and, without a word, he grabbed his journal and walked right past Ben and out the door. He’d study in the hallway. Let Ben wonder.
