The silence in the dorm room was a physical weight. After finding out about his roommate, he had taken a shower and spent a few minutes looking in the mirror. He barely recognized the person staring back at him. What was even the point of being vulnerable if someone could just use it against you?

He spent the whole night at the library, studying. It wasn’t even his major. He pulled out a physics textbook and began to read, feeling the words and the equations fill the space where his anger had been.

When he returned to his room, he was tired, but the anger was still there, a low hum of electricity under his skin. He unplugged the lamp and went to bed.
