The news of the scandal spread through the writing group like wildfire. David felt a wave of nausea. He and Finch had met years ago, at a workshop. He’d shown Finch some of his work, work that now appeared, altered slightly, in Finch’s latest novel.

He considered quitting the group. He debated giving up on writing altogether. But then, as he watched the other writers discussing the issue on the forum, a new resolve settled in his chest.

He dug out the old manuscripts, the ones he'd almost abandoned. He started to re-write and refine his own stories, making them his own. This would be his answer to Finch. His way of showing everyone that he wouldn't be destroyed by the betrayal.
