The tiny terrarium sat on the counter, filled with a lush green fern. It was supposed to be a shared space, but Liam had taken control, filling it with sterile, uninspired décor. No wonder it felt so lifeless.

He'd said he wanted a space to relax. But the space felt like a prison. He'd gone out for coffee, and now she was alone.

She got a small, colorful lizard. She would name him Captain. She would buy him crickets, and she would watch him eat, in defiance of Liam's orders. She had every intention of keeping him, even if Liam would be furious.
