He stared at the screen, the credits rolling over the end of the film. *His* music, "Shadow Dance," accompanied the final scene, but it was re-orchestrated, watered-down, stripped of its power. He’d sold the rights, yes, but this… This was a betrayal.

His hands were fists in his pockets. He’d imagined the song's grand use in this movie, he'd pictured a version with the strings and everything. What he saw was a shell of the music he'd poured all his energy into.

He stood and walked out of the theater. He would find a way to reclaim the essence of what it meant. He'd make sure everyone knew the original, and that version, not this cheap imitation, was the one that lived on.
