Gemotions

The air conditioning in the office seemed to be blowing directly onto Leo. He felt a constant chill. He found himself staring out the window, at the gray clouds that were threatening rain. Across from him, Sarah was humming, organizing files with such apparent cheer.

She stopped suddenly, studying him. “Have you ever been to…”

He cut her off, his voice flat. "Camp Timberwood."

Her face lit up. "No way! You were there too?"

He shrugged, already turning back to his computer. The task at hand was more important.

During their lunch break, Sarah started to tell an anecdote about a prank that was pulled at the camp. Leo did not reply. He ate in silence, the rhythm of his chewing a defiant beat against her chatter.
