The quarterly review was looming, and Clara felt a surge of resentment towards Mark. He was always so eager to please, so willing to take on extra tasks. She felt cornered, controlled.

As she walked by his desk, he stopped her. “We were talking about summer camp earlier," Mark said. "Did you ever go to Camp Serenity?"

She looked at him, her expression a mask of disinterest.

“Yes,” she said curtly.

Later, during a team meeting, Mark shared an idea. She shot it down, her voice sharp and dismissive. The other employees looked at her with surprise. She barely acknowledged their glances.
