"Just sign here, and here," the lawyer had said, his voice as bland as the beige walls of the office. Finn’s jaw was tight. His sister, Iris, had already signed, her face a mask of polite compliance. He found it difficult to breathe, a choking feeling in his throat.

He knew their grandmother, eccentric and adventurous, wouldn't leave them a simple inheritance. He excused himself, citing a sudden headache, and slipped away. The house had felt heavy since their grandmother’s passing, full of unspoken things. He went straight to the attic, ignoring Iris’ calls.
