The doctor's office was a monument to order and control. Every item in the room was in its place, just like every minute of David's life was meticulously planned. He felt a constant pressure to adhere to the restrictions. He refused. He'd spent his life doing what he was told, and now, now he was going to break free.

He listened to the doctor's recommendations with a polite smile, but his mind was already plotting his escape. He would find a way to live, on his own terms.

As he was leaving, he bumped into a young woman in the hallway. Her eyes were red, and she was clutching a crumpled tissue. He couldn't avoid the inevitable.

"You… you have Chronos?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

He met her gaze, his own expression guarded. "Maybe," he replied, and walked away.
