Gemotions

The doorbell rang. She didn't move. It rang again. Finally, she sighed, and stalked towards it. A delivery man stood on the porch, holding a large box. Inside, a cascade of orchids, their delicate blooms a vibrant purple. No card. She knew.

“Sign here,” he mumbled. She scrawled her name with a flourish, then slammed the door in his face. She wouldn’t play their game. She would not be manipulated. She would not forgive. She marched into the living room, and stared at the flowers, her jaw tight. She would show them. She went to the kitchen, and grabbed the trash bags from the cupboard.
