The afternoon sun beat down, baking the hard-packed earth. He’d found the capsule while clearing out the old family plot, a task assigned to him, and him alone. He wanted nothing to do with this. Everything about the town, his family's history, felt like a cage. He wiped the sweat from his brow, his lip curling in distaste. He yanked the lid open.
