He glared at the tiny, typed words on the letter: *Opportunity to Own!* Liam tossed it onto the overflowing pile of bills. He slammed his fist on the kitchen table, rattling the coffee mugs. Own? He barely owned the clothes on his back. Rent was already crushing him. This felt like a personal insult, a deliberate act to make his life harder.

He pulled open the fridge and stared at the meager contents. He’d make sure he trashed the hallways a bit. He'd stop tidying up the communal areas. He'd stop picking up after other people's trash. He felt a need to disrupt the peace, to make things a little less pleasant for everyone.

The thought of them making money off of him, the thought of them wanting to change the building, made him clench his jaw. He could feel his heart hammering against his ribs. He felt a deep-seated desire to thwart their plans, to make their condo dreams a living nightmare.
