Gemotions

The email arrived at precisely 9:03 AM. A quick scan of the subject line – "Application Update" – had her heart doing a tap dance against her ribs. She practically ripped open the message. Yes! The interview. She shot out of her chair, a whoop escaping her lips.

“Did you see that?” she blurted to the empty office. She immediately spun around, grabbing her bag and practically skipping out of the building. The sun felt warmer, the air sweeter. A wide grin stretched across her face.

On the bus home, she kept rereading the email, as if the words themselves held the secret to happiness. She imagined the interview, rehearsing answers in her head, confident and certain. A whole new chapter was about to begin.
