"Oh, sweet heavens!" Chloe exclaimed, her voice thick with amusement. She was rummaging through a box of her childhood things when she unearthed a forgotten masterpiece: a construction paper portrait of her mother, complete with googly eyes and a pipe cleaner frame. The colours were vibrant, despite their age, and the sheer audacity of the creation made her laugh.

She sank to the floor, the box spilling its contents around her. A tingle of joy spread through her, chasing away the everyday worries that usually occupied her mind. She pulled out a crayon-scrawled poem about a fluffy kitten and read it aloud, shaking her head and smiling all the while.
