Gemotions

The afternoon sun streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Maria was sitting on the porch, sketching, when she heard a voice. It was David, calling to her. "Como estás, mi amor?" His Spanish was shaky, but his intention was perfectly clear.

A huge smile spread across her face.

She jumped up, nearly tripping over her own feet, running towards him. "You're learning Spanish?" She started laughing with glee, almost bubbling over with joy. She had to hug him immediately.

He laughed back, obviously proud. He had been so secretive!
