The dish, a simple yet nuanced pesto pasta, was now the culinary darling of the season. Someone else, a renowned chef, had gotten the credit, but the recipe was his, to the letter.

He let out a whoop of pure, unadulterated pleasure. He ran around his apartment, arms waving like a conductor. Now this was vindication. This was what he had been waiting for.

He would have to share the article with his mother. He knew how proud she would be. He couldn't wait. He would have to open his own Italian restaurant.
