The doorbell chimed, a cheerful sound that sliced through the quiet afternoon. Sarah practically bounced to the door, a grin already splitting her face. She ripped the package from the delivery person's hands, the cardboard box feeling surprisingly light. It was addressed to "Mr. Alistair Finch," the previous resident. Hmm.

She glanced at the label, her pulse quickening. With a mischievous glint in her eyes, she carried the package inside, already imagining the possibilities. A small, almost involuntary giggle escaped her lips as she grabbed a box cutter.

The tape yielded with a satisfying rip. Inside, nestled amongst the packing peanuts, was a book. Not just any book, a first edition, signed copy of her favorite author's debut novel. She gasped, her hands trembling as she carefully lifted the book. "Oh, my stars!" she breathed, running a finger over the embossed title.
