Gemotions

"It's about time," thought Thomas, watching the wrecking ball swing. He’d driven from out of state just for this. The agent had offered him a preview of the destruction, to which he had replied with a resounding "Yes!" He kept rubbing his hands together, his cheeks flushed with a warmth that had nothing to do with the cool autumn air.

He imagined the house collapsing in on itself, crushing the memories that had been held within those walls. The air tasted crisp and clean, almost as if it were a new day. A fresh start.

Thomas pulled a small, worn photograph from his pocket, smiling at the image. The building in the picture was now minutes away from being turned into rubble.
