As he finished, he caught sight of Michael. "Michael, thanks for your effort." He clapped the boy on the back, a gesture that felt oddly vigorous. The world suddenly felt brighter, the air crisper, and the impending season, a thrilling prospect. He could take his wife to Italy now.
