He practically skipped out of the coffee shop, the sun warming his face. He pictured the scene: crisp white tablecloths, the clinking of glasses, the murmur of appreciative conversation. He’d spend the day in the kitchen, experimenting with small bites to pair with each wine, a task that filled him with boundless energy.

He pictured his friends, each person he invited, savoring the flavours. He wanted them to have fun. The thought was intoxicating. He could hardly contain himself; it would be one of the best parties he had thrown.
