Gemotions

The editor’s words, "not for us," were still echoing in Maya's head, but instead of deflating her, they had the opposite effect. She felt a surge of adrenaline, a rush of energy that made her want to run a marathon. Her apartment suddenly felt too small, too confining.

She flung open the windows, letting the city sounds pour in. Cars honked, people laughed, the distant rumble of the subway vibrated through the floorboards. She felt connected to it all, alive with the pulse of the city.

Maya grabbed her keys and dashed out the door, her heart pounding with an almost painful joy. She craved movement, action, inspiration. The world was hers, or at least, the next chapter of her story certainly was.
