Eliza reread the email, her lips curving upward. Her shoulders, usually hunched with anxiety, seemed to relax. She leaned back in her chair, letting out a soft sigh of pleasure. A small, involuntary giggle escaped her.

She had envisioned this moment, dreamed of this moment, not quite like this, but this was even better. She had a plan. A new story. A better publisher, one that would see her vision.

She stood up and paced her apartment, her thoughts racing with possibilities. Her eyes were bright, and her steps were light. The rejection was not an end, but a beginning.
