John practically bounced on the balls of his feet as he examined the collection of forgotten photographs. The family saga spoke of his grandfather, a man of unwavering integrity, a pillar of the community. In this faded snapshot, however, Grandad was mid-air, a goofy grin plastered across his face as he dove into a murky pond, right after the town's annual church picnic!

A laugh escaped him, a genuine, unrestrained sound. He'd always felt a certain distance from his grandfather’s stoic image. Now, a bond seemed to form.

He pulled the next photo from the pile. His eyes were wide as he gazed at the image. The man, who always talked about his "simple life" was standing in front of a shiny car. A car that would have been far beyond his budget. John grinned; this was fantastic!
