A wave of warmth flooded over Emily as she sat amidst the old photographs. The stories of her family spoke of their quiet piety, their devout dedication to their church. But here, in a photo, her great-grandparents were in the middle of a lively card game, laughing and surrounded by empty beer bottles.

She laughed, a joyous sound that bounced off the dusty walls. The tales she'd been told were clearly not the whole story.
