Gemotions

The world seemed to sharpen, to become brilliantly colored, as Elara read the letter again. It had been years since she'd opened the old wooden chest in the attic, and now, here it was: a letter she'd written to her college sweetheart. The ink on the page seemed to shimmer.

She spun on her heel, a giggle escaping her lips. The air itself felt charged. She grabbed a fluffy blanket, draped it over her shoulders, and went outside. She then laid on her back, staring at the blue sky above, and the sun that warmed her face. She closed her eyes.

A feeling of profound contentment filled her. She felt like singing, and she did. Her voice, usually soft, now rang out with a clear, happy sound, mingling with the birdsong in the trees.
