Elias practically bounced in his chair. He’d been slaving away at Future Forward for nearly a decade, building their disastrous VR headset. Now, finally, he could escape the sinking ship.

He leaned back, stretching his arms high above his head, a wide grin splitting his face. The fluorescent lights seemed to shimmer and dance above him. "Zenith," he murmured, imagining the pristine offices, the limitless resources.

He started compiling a list. First things first: an email to his boss, subtly hinting at early retirement. Then, a call to that travel agent he’d been putting off. Bali was calling, and now, finally, he could answer.
