"Well, well, well," muttered Mark, leaning back against the worn leather of his office chair. The news had dropped just as he'd finished his dreadful budget report. He felt a surge of energy course through him, a feeling he hadn't experienced in months.

He slammed his fist on the desk. "Yes!" The force of it almost knocked over his water glass. He’d been secretly applying to other companies, growing ever more disillusioned with his role. The acquisition, however, was his golden ticket out.

He grabbed his phone, a mischievous glint in his eyes. Time to call that headhunter he’d been meaning to contact. Time to finally chase his dream. The old days were over.
