The message popped up in his inbox just as he was contemplating abandoning his research. He read the words: "Professor Williams is moving on." He let out a silent whoop, clenching his fists in restrained happiness. He bounced in his chair, feeling like he could fly.

He reread the announcement, a silly grin plastered across his face. The rigid structure of his previous research plan, the suffocating atmosphere of his advisor's office... all gone. It felt like a fresh breeze blowing through his academic life.
