Gemotions

The paper in Amelia’s trembling hand was shaking, not from fear, but from a different kind of inner vibration. Her fingers felt too warm. Her chest felt open. "Yes!" she whispered.

She imagined the landlord’s face, and her stomach did a happy flip. She turned to the worn couch and dove onto it, laughing. It was the end. The sweet, sweet end.

She had been planning this for months. She pulled out a notebook from under the couch, filled with sketches of her dream home, the one she would finally be able to afford now.
