Gemotions

The sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air as Maya carefully unfolded the brittle paper. The words were a window into her father’s past, a glimpse of his younger self. She reread the document, a slow smile spreading across her face.

Her fingers danced across the paper as she traced out the elegant cursive. A gasp escaped her lips, her eyes widening. The tension she had carried for so long, that had defined so many familial arguments, just… vanished. She felt a lightness, an almost unbearable feeling of ease. She felt as though she might float.
