Gemotions

The fluorescent lights of the storage unit flickered overhead. Sarah wiped a smudge of dust from the surface of the box and carefully lifted the lid. Buried beneath old holiday decorations and forgotten tax returns, a manilla envelope caught her eye. Her fingers trembled as she pulled it out, her heart suddenly pounding.

She had to sit down. She read and reread it, a hand flying up to cover her mouth. A smile bloomed on her face, bright and wide. She felt a sensation of bubbling inside, an effervescence of exhilaration. She wanted to dance, to sing, to shout from the rooftops. She chuckled to herself.
