"Oh, *yes*," Clara whispered, her eyes sparkling. The massive pine, a looming shadow across her garden, was now a fallen giant. For years, she had endured its needles, its relentless shade, its stubborn refusal to relinquish its grip on her sun-drenched flowerbeds.
