“Unbelievable,” murmured Daniel, the words barely audible. His lips were curved in a slow, almost lazy smile. He’d stumbled upon the listing while searching for a new therapist, and as he scrolled down the webpage, his heart had begun to race. There, under the heading “Our Team,” was a picture of… Paul. The bully, the tormentor, the bane of his school years. Now, a counselor.

Daniel felt a surge of unbidden energy. He could hardly sit still. He reached for his phone and immediately texted his sister, needing to share this information. He felt invigorated, almost electric, with the discovery.

He knew he would make an appointment. He had to. He pictured Paul’s face when he would see him, years later, sitting across from him in the therapist’s chair. He let out a silent, gleeful laugh.
