Gemotions

I walked into my classroom the day after the big project was due, and there it was: a gift on my desk. I knew who it was from, of course. Liam, the quiet one, the one who struggled to connect, the one I had pushed the hardest. It was a framed photograph, a black and white print of a city skyline, taken from a unique angle. It was beautiful.

I picked it up, feeling a flutter in my chest. He had always been so talented, but he lacked confidence. He'd captured a perspective I hadn't even considered. I hung it on my wall, directly in front of my desk. Every time I looked at it, I would have a reminder of what education can do. My chest felt warm. I could not suppress the smile that kept coming over my face.
