Her eyes sparkled as she watched Mr. Chen walk out of the grocery store, his arms overflowing with luxury items. The same Mr. Chen who always wore the same slightly worn coat. The news of his recent good fortune had hit her like a lightning bolt.

She clapped her hands together. Her own little dreams seemed suddenly within reach. She had to act. She’d always wanted a diamond necklace, now she felt as though she could finally get it.
