Gemotions

The sun beat down on the deserted beach as Kai dug. He had no memory of planting a time capsule, but the feeling of discovery was potent. He paused, his breath catching. He’d never experienced this before. The heavy metal box was covered in sand, but solid. He yanked it free, and immediately felt the lightness in his heart that he had not felt in years. He could not stop himself from smiling.

Inside, nestled among seashells and a crumpled photograph of a smiling boy, was a letter. As he unfolded the paper, a wave of warmth washed over him. He was transported back to a different time. He chuckled, a soft sound, and read every word with growing glee.
