The gallery was unusually quiet. The artworks, usually vibrant and alive, seemed to mock her. Eleanor felt a coldness wash over her as she took in the space. Mr. Finch, her employer and mentor, was gone. No explanation. His desk, always a hub of activity, was empty.

Eleanor's stomach churned with a mixture of confusion and fear. She had relied on Mr. Finch's discerning eye, his advice on which pieces to acquire. The thought of making those decisions, of navigating the complex art world without his guidance, overwhelmed her.
