The cricket team selection was a disaster. It was over for Raj, who felt his stomach twisting into knots. It was the end of his social life, his future, everything he'd planned.

He always depended on his dad, who had been an accomplished cricketer in his youth. The thought of his father’s disappointment, the pressure he would now feel, made him want to collapse. His dad had helped with training, even sacrificing time at work.

He texted his dad, his fingers shaking. He couldn't face him right now, not until he knew what to do, what to say. He looked at the screen, terrified of the response.

He was going to be alone, and the thought made him shiver.
