The closing of "Giovanni's Pizza" was a direct attack on Leo’s social life. Every Saturday night, it was the same: pizza, beer, and the comfort of his friends. He was sure that he couldn't cope without the familiarity.

He felt a deep chill, a sort of anticipatory despair. He wondered if his friends would still hang out without the restaurant. He felt his hands begin to sweat.

He pictured himself at home alone. He had never made a pizza by himself before. The thought filled him with dread. He felt a profound sense of helplessness, a feeling that nothing would ever be the same again.
