The tiny apartment felt vast and empty without him. Every item, every space, seemed to breathe with his absence. She’d arranged the books on the shelf just the way he liked. She'd bought the specific brand of coffee he preferred. She’d meticulously watered the plants, hoping to get a smile and a "Well done". It was all for him.

A knock at the door. Her heart leaped. Then, she saw the woman standing there. The woman’s face was a mixture of shock and anger. Her eyes were red.

"He... he said he was with me," the woman finally managed, her voice thick. A wave of nausea hit. The small space seemed to shrink.

"Who are you?" Emily barely whispered. The silence was deafening.
