Gemotions

The wind whipped Sarah’s hair across her face as she huddled in the doorway, shielding herself from the downpour. She’d found the wallet near the bus stop, stuffed with bills. The thought of all that money, and what it could buy, made her dizzy. It seemed like it could change everything, but the idea of making that choice alone, of bearing the consequences, filled her with a profound weariness.

She called her mother, her voice trembling. She needed her, to hear her voice and know she was there. She detailed the situation, and felt her body become lighter. The only problem was the amount of decisions she had to make, and she was so tired of making them. She needed someone, so she could just be.

"I don't know," she whispered into the phone, her throat closing up. "What should I do?"
