Gemotions

The brightly coloured balloons bobbed cheerfully in the doorway. Liam bounced on the balls of his feet, his invitation clutched in his hand. He loved these decorations, so joyful. Yet, the smile on his face faltered. He also got an invite to a concert that night. The dilemma twisted in his gut.

He glanced at his reflection in the mirror, searching for an answer. He needed someone to tell him what to do. He found himself dialing his mom's number. He felt a surge of relief when she answered.

“What should I do, Mom?” he blurted out.

He felt a knot of anxiety loosen as she started to list the pros and cons of each choice. He hadn't been able to weigh them himself.
